Blogging For Profit : A Beginner’s Lesson

I’m a newbie to blogging as a way to make money. I’m not a programming geek who can handle a blogging program script in a piece of cake. I start blogging with this website on February 2008, and know nothing at all about blogging software before. But like other millions of people who venture online exploring ways to make money, I have been looking for ways that would allow me to earn residual income and try to get financial freedom. But I am hungry to learn and realised that there were a lot of scams, hyped-up promises programs that soon became obvious to me that the promises of make-tons-of-money-with-no-effort to be challenging because it is not true at all.

If you are planning to make profit from blogging, you have to understand that building a business online is just like building a brick-and-mortar business offline. You need both a good plan and a marketable product. You should build a website around your personal interest because it’d be fun to doing so. However, you must realize that your own interest were not necessarily enough what the market was looking for, but you should look at other people’s interest instead.

Blogging for profit involves specific knowledge of how to make money online including understanding the principles of Google Adsense, a selling advertising space or in-text links on your blog and affiliate programs. If you have any products to sell, you could also advertise your products on your blog, but you will likely be doing the selling from your website and that is another technique.

From what I learned, one of the easiest way to get into blogging for profit business is through affiliate programs which allow you to sign up as an affiliate member. You earn a referral commission from selling the merchant’s products. These products are usually information products such as e-book and software that can be delivered as a file which is then downloaded directly to your customers’ computers. They could be repeatedly reproduced and downloaded and sold at no cost. There’s no packing, shipping and delivery cost. Owing to this, the merchants usually pay their affiliates as high as 50% commissions.

There are other ways in which to use your blog to make money, and blogging for profit and traffic is a combination of many sources of income and traffic generation techniques. Once you understand how to use these, you will find your blog a lot more useful than just a simple website.

In conclusion, if you want to make money on the Internet, it is a real possibility, but please do not misunderstand about this that you expect something by doing nothing. You need to make investments in your effort, time, commitment and at some financial budget and hard working!
